Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is one of the largest direct benefit transfer schemes in the world, supporting over 9.5 crore Indian farmer families with ₹6,000 per year credited directly to their bank accounts. As we move into 2026, eKYC has become non-negotiable, and many beneficiaries are being held back from receiving their installment because of pending verification. What Is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi?
Launched in February 2019 by the Ministry of Agriculture, the PM-KISAN scheme provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible small and marginal farmer families, paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme is 100% centrally funded.

The exact release date is announced by the Prime Minister's Office. Once released, the money is credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account within 2-3 days.
Who Is Eligible & Who Is Excluded
Eligible: All small and marginal farmer families having cultivable land in their name, as recorded in state land records.
Excluded:
- Income tax payers in the last assessment year
- Institutional landholders
- Constitutional post holders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, Mayors, Zilla Parishad chairpersons
- Serving/retired Group A/B central or state government officers
- Retired/serving employees of PSUs, autonomous institutions
- Pensioners receiving more than ₹10,000/month (other than Group D employees)
- Doctors, engineers, lawyers, CAs and other professionals practising professionally
Mandatory eKYC – 3 Methods
From August 2022, eKYC has been compulsory. Without eKYC, your installment is held. Here are the three official methods:
- OTP-based Aadhaar eKYC: Online at pmkisan.gov.in → Farmers Corner → eKYC → Enter Aadhaar → OTP on registered mobile.
- Biometric eKYC: Visit nearest CSC (Common Service Centre); fingerprint authentication via Aadhaar.
- Face Authentication eKYC: Download "PM Kisan Mobile App" → eKYC → Face Authentication. Useful when mobile is not linked to Aadhaar.
How to Register as a New PM-Kisan Beneficiary
- Open pmkisan.gov.in → "New Farmer Registration".
- Choose "Rural Farmer Registration" or "Urban Farmer Registration".
- Enter Aadhaar number, mobile, state → captcha → "Get OTP".
- Fill personal details, bank account, IFSC, land records (Khasra/Khatauni).
- Upload supporting documents — Aadhaar, bank passbook, land record.
- Submit. Application is verified by Patwari → Tehsil → State nodal officer.
- Once approved, you start receiving installments from the next cycle.
Check Installment Status Online
- Open pmkisan.gov.in.
- Go to "Farmers Corner" → "Know Your Status".
- Enter Aadhaar number or mobile number → captcha.
- Click "Get OTP" → enter OTP from registered mobile.
- You'll see installment-wise payment status, eKYC status, land seeding, Aadhaar bank linkage status.
Village-wise Beneficiary List
- Visit pmkisan.gov.in → "Farmers Corner" → "Beneficiary List".
- Select State → District → Sub-district → Block → Village.
- Click "Get Report" to view the complete list of beneficiaries in your village.
Common Rejection Reasons & Fixes
