Who Is Eligible for PMUY in 2026?
- Applicant must be an adult woman from a poor household.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply Online
- Visit the official PMUY portal (pmuy.gov.in) and click "Apply for New Ujjwala 2.0 Connection".
- Choose your preferred distributor — Indane, Bharatgas or HP Gas.
- You are redirected to that company's site; fill the KYC form online.
- Enter Aadhaar, family details, bank account and address.
- Upload documents and submit; note your reference number.
- Submit the printed KYC at your chosen LPG distributor for verification.
- After approval, the connection, cylinder and stove are delivered.

Yes. Under Ujjwala 2.0 the security deposit for the cylinder and pressure regulator is borne by the government, and the scheme also provides the first refill and a stove free of cost. You do not pay the upfront connection cost that a general consumer pays. You will, however, pay the market price for subsequent refills and receive the enhanced subsidy directly in your Aadhaar-linked bank account, so keep your bank and Aadhaar linkage active.
Can I apply if my husband already has a gas connection?▼
No. A core condition of PMUY is that no member of the household should already own an LPG connection in their name. The scheme is meant to bring clean cooking fuel to homes that have never had a connection. If your household already has any LPG connection (in the husband's, parent's or any family member's name), you are not eligible for a new Ujjwala connection, though you continue to receive applicable subsidy on the existing connection.
I am a migrant worker without local address proof. Can I still apply?▼
Yes — this was a key improvement in Ujjwala 2.0. Migrant families who cannot produce local address proof can submit a self-declaration of address and family composition instead of formal documents.
